Mines and Minerals of Mexico, vol. 1: Boleoby P. Bariand, J. C. Boulliard, I. Chancelier-Dumielle, V. Tournis and E. Swoboda
This book, the first volume in our series on the mines and minerals of Mexico, was originally issued as vol. 29, no. 1 of The Mineralogical Record. It deals entirely with the famous Boléo deposits, source of the minerals boleite, pseudoboleite, cumengite and others. The main section, prepared by Sorbonne curator Pierre Bariand and his associates, covers the fascinating history of the mines, the involvement of the French mineralogist Edouard Cumenge (1828-1902), the description of the minerals of the boleite group, the geology of the district and its detailed mineralogy. The second part recounts the reworking of the locality for specimens by Ed Swoboda in 1959, 1969 and 1973, accompanied by beautiful specimen illustrations.
The hardcover editions of the Mexico series, limited to 300 copies each, have sewn bindings and are covered in gold-stamped bonded leather.
